    10:00 am - 3:00 pm

One of the Anglesey County Council AONB regular volunteer days, this session focuses on the traditional, seasonal, woodland management art of Coppicing.  Cutting most broadleaved trees back to the ground in winter produces strong new growth from the ‘stools’, the offcuts are used in various green crafts – hazel hurdles, ash gates, willow baskets…

The coppice woodland near Pentreath is in need of its first cut, being around 12 years old and some of the wood will be used in the upcoming coppice convention in February.

Volunteers are more than welcome to help and learn this ancient skill.
